Waste Management

KID funds a contract for garbage collection throughout the Improvement District and also funds the transfer of waste to Calgary landfill facilities. Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation reimburses the Improvement District for waste removed from its facilities.

Garbage pickup occurs based on a schedule provided by our contracted service provider. To see the pickup schedule, report a full bin or service concerns, please call the Municipal office at 403-591-7774.

The KID also operates a hazardous waste roundup and electronics recycling program.

2011 - 2013 Solid Waste Management Fees

Solid waste management fees for 2011 - 2013 were originally approved on October 4, 2010.

Commercial users (to be billed quarterly)
2011 rate of $32.25/m³
2012 rate of $33.50/m³
2013 rate of $34.75/m³

Lower Kananaskis Lake Cabin Subdivision (to be billed annually)
2011 rate of $110.00/year
2012 rate of $115.00/year
2013 rate of $120.00/year

Residential users (to be billed annually)
2011 rate of $10.50/month
2012 rate of $11.00/month
2013 rate of $11.50/month

Residential users are all residences using common bins in government housing areas, except Mt Kidd Mobile Home Loop and the Lower Kananaskis Lake Cabin Subdivision. Commercial user rate applies to the Mt. Kidd Mobile Home Loop and is billed to Mt. Kidd RV Park Ltd

These rates are periodically reviewed by the KID Budget and Audit Committee to ensure a consistent approach to fees for similar types of facilities.
